JTA back to negotiating table this morning as it seeks answers on salary concerns

Representatives of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) are locked in a meeting with the Government, with the Association seeking to get answers on salary concerns.
The JTA, as well as the Finance and Education Ministries, have long been engaged in discussions over proper compensation for the nation’s teachers.
This as the JTA maintains that the wage package must reflect value for educators.
Speaking with IRIE FM News ahead of today’s meeting, JTA President Mark Malabver said he hopes there will be significant movements on several items on the Association’s list of claims.
Among the top concerns is the finalisation of a contract with the Government – a matter Mr. Malabver explained has been outstanding since April last year.
