Yesterday’s shooting along Chisholm Ave left 4 including cop wounded; St Andrew South police say incident unfortunate, unnecessary
The St. Andrew South police say last evening’s shooting incident along Chisholm Avenue, which resulted in the wounding of four people, including a cop, was unfortunate and unnecessary.
Commanding officer for the division, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Damion Manderson, told IRIE FM News that the incident occurred sometime after 6 PM.
He said checks revealed that the police officer, who was attending to a domestic situation, was fired upon by armed men, who were reportedly not pleased with his presence in the area.
The lawman reportedly defended himself with his licensed firearm, after which he and three gunmen were shot and wounded.
SSP Manderson said a thorough probe has been launched into the matter.
A search is also being conducted for the other people who were involved.
