The Education and Youth Ministry says the murder of 4-year-old Saniyah Obrien is beyond comprehension and must provoke urgent, sustained national repudiation.
Saniyah of Woodstock Manchester was shot dead by gunmen in Landsettlement, in the parish yesterday afternoon.
Her father was also wounded in the incident.
In a statement today, portfolio Minister Dr. Dana Morris-Dixon said the perpetrators must be found.
She said Jamaica’s children must be protected from violence in all its forms.
Meanwhile, the ministry and the child protection and family services agency will be reaching out to the affected family to provide any support needed.
Children’s Advocate, Diahann Gordon-Harrison in condemning the incident, says her office stands with Saniyah’s family.
