Stop order issued on Police Officers Association Chairman SSP Wayne Cameron
This content originally appeared on Jamaica News.
A stop order has been issued by Chairman of the Police Officers Association, senior superintendent Wayne Cameron.
The court also ordered that SSP Cameron surrender his travel documents.
The matter stems from allegations that SSP Cameron misappropriated funds from the POA.
The cop is facing charges of larceny as a servant and fraudulent conversion.
His attorney Matthew Hyatt said in court today, the prosecution noted that the alleged misappropriated amount is $15 million.
This is based on claims that SSP Cameron wrote some cheques in his name.
Mr. Hyatt described the case against SSP Cameron as malicious.
SSP Cameron’s bail was extended and the matter will be heard again on May 28.
