Bellevue Hospital launches internal review to establish patient’s death on hospital compound today

The Bellevue Hospital says an internal review process has commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of a patient at the hospital compound today.

In a statement, the hospital said it is cooperating with the relevant authorities.

It said the family of the patient has been notified and it extends its deepest condolences during this difficult time.

The Bellevue Hospital says it recognizes the seriousness of this matter and that the safety and wellbeing of patients remain central to the hospital’s mandate.

It said that out of respect for patient confidentiality and the privacy of the family, no further detail will be provided at this time.

The hospital says it remains committed to responsible governance and the ongoing delivery of mental health services in Jamaica.
