Opposition Leader Mark Golding has pointed out that a stronger, fairer economy for workers would help Jamaica build back better.

In his contribution to the budget debate yesterday, Mr. Golding highlighted concerns about contract work.

He said a People’s National Party led government would pass legislation to end abusive contract work arrangements.

Citing the need to incentivise workers and boost productivity, the Opposition Leader said this could be achieved by removing taxes on overtime pay and gratuity.

He added that a PNP government would implement a framework for livable wage.
