Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) says it will extend operating hours to recover lost time and maintain service commitments to customers following a fire at the terminal earlier today.
KFTL’s Corporate Communications Manager, Trudy Belnavis, confirmed that the incident involved a straddle carrier operating in the space.
She told IRIE FM News that the situation was managed quickly to ensure the safety of all personnel and operations.
Ms. Belnavis added that a thorough probe of the incident is being conducted to determine the cause.
In the meantime, Ms. Belnavis said the incident resulted in temporary operational disruption and as a result, operating hours will be extended.
