The marine police seized 70 knitted bags containing compressed ganja and associated contraband during an operation in Hellshire St. Catherine yesterday.
No arrest was made in relation to the discovery.
In a statement, the Constabulary Force said lawmen assigned to the Marine Division, acting on operational intelligence, carried out a targeted search in the community.
Police said each of the 70 bags is estimated to weigh between 30 and 50 pounds, representing a substantial quantity of the illicit substance.
In addition to the ganja, the team also seized approximately 800 litres of mixed gasoline, along with several bags containing clothing and food items.
The items are believed to be linked to organised illegal activities being conducted along the coastline.
Investigations are ongoing as the police intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the contraband.
According to the police, the seizure represents a major disruption to illegal trafficking activities and reinforces the constabulary’s commitment to securing Jamaica’s coastal borders.
