As sections of the Corporate Area enter another day of water regulations, the Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) has expressed concern that the restrictions could have negative implications on members.

The restrictions took effect on Monday and apply to customers served by the Constant Spring Water System in St. Andrew.

According to the National Water Commission, the measure is to preserve current supplies at the Hermitage Dam, as it is now approaching the critical threshold of 65%.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, SBAJ President Garnett Reid said the water restrictions come at a time when businesses are still reeling from the impact of Hurricane Melissa, which hit Jamaica last October.

He is calling on the NWC to provide trucked water to affected businesses.
