President of the Small Business Association of Jamaica, Garnett Reid, has welcomed the Government’s decision to reserve 20 per cent of Government contracts for small enterprises.
He was reacting to Finance Minister Fayval Williams’ announcement of the Set-Asides Programme during her budget debate presentation yesterday.
It is also referred to as the Public Procurement Set-Aside Framework, and it aims to increase local business participation by ensuring fair competition among smaller firms.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Mr. Reid said business operators are looking forward to working with the Government.
