Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett has indicated that Jamaica being featured on American Broadcaster NBC’s Today Show will augur well for the island’s tourism industry.
The show hosted by Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones was broadcast live from Sandals Dunn’s River in Mammee Bay, St. Ann on Thursday.
Jamaican artistes Shaggy and Sean Paul and Jamaican-American Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph were featured on the show.
Mr. Bartlett said this publicity is good for Brand Jamaica post Hurricane Melissa.
And Executive Chairman of Sandals Adam Stewart said the Dunn’s River resort was selected because it is a great representation of Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Executive Producer of the Today show Talia Parkinson Jones, who was born in Kingston, said bringing the show to her island home was important.
Players in the tourism industry have also hailed the move as significant.
Tourism Consultant Sean Edwards said it is very good for Jamaica’s tourism product to be showcased to over 9 million households in the USA.
