Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness said his administration cannot cave in to political pressure to repair roads, citing the need for a planned approach.
Dr. Holness made the statement as he addressed the issue of road repairs at an awards banquet hosted by the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce Sunday evening.
He said while he understands the need for better roads, the Government can make bad decisions if it yields to pressure.
He said if fixing roads is not planned it will lead to more borrowing, further taxes and other economic implications.
Dr Holness explained that the solution is to boost business activities in communities to provide a feasible source of funds to fix the roads.
