Review being conducted following death of baby boy at Cornwall Regional Hospital
An urgent review is being conducted, following the death of a baby boy who was delivered at the Cornwall Regional Hospital on Good Friday.
The Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) says the hospital is saddened by the outcome of the case, in the death of Shandale Ballentine’s baby and expresses sincere condolences to the patient and the affected families.
The mother has detailed her ordeal at the hospital in social media posts saying she has several questions to be answered.
WRHA says Cornwall Regional is providing psychosocial support to the patient and her family.
The Health Authority says the hospital will communicate further with the family as it remains committed to patients’ privacy.
According to the the WRHA statement , Cornwall Regional is assuring the public that the matter is being treated with urgency and is committed to transparency, as it remains committed to patient safety and delivering quality care.
