There are challenges filling posts previously held by Cuban healthcare workers at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James.

This was disclosed by Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton at a press conference hosted by the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) today.

He said some 27 Cuban healthcare workers were employed to the hospital.

Their posts became vacant following the termination of the Cuban medical arrangement with Jamaica last month.

Dr. Tufton said while some posts have been filled, there are challenges for areas such as radiotherapy.

He noted that some 58 additional healthcare professionals have been hired.
