The St. James police say there has been an increase in cases of sacrilege, particularly break-ins, at churches.
Commanding Officer, Senior Superintendent Eron Samuels states that a task force has been established to address the issue.
The matter was raised at Thursday’s meeting of the St James Municipal Corporation.
SSP Samuels believes persons from outside the parish are committing the crimes, noting that other divisions are also reporting cases of sacrilege.
He indicates that the police are taking a proactive approach to deal with break ins at churches.
SSP Samuels is seeking the assistance of residents to help nab the culprits.
