Police say restriction on firearms at entertainment venues will soon be implemented, following St. Andrew shooting
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says a restriction on firearms at entertainment venues will soon be implemented as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
This follows a shooting incident at an event at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St. Andrew, last evening.
Three men were shot and wounded among them a popular vlogger, and an American citizen.
Another man is said to be in critical condition at hospital.
A music producer and the vlogger have been taken into police custody.
Reports are that at about 9:30 P.M. a physical altercation developed between patrons at the event.
It is further reported that the fracas escalated, and gunshots were traded resulting in 3 men being wounded.
2 guns were seized following the incident.
The JCF said it is arranging a series of meetings with party and event promoters to reinforce security and safety requirements as part of the issuing of permits.
