Campus Registrar, at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona, Dr. Donovan Stanberry, says the university is awaiting a recommendation from the Finance Ministry regarding outstanding compensation for some staff.

Earlier today some UWI staff from various departments protested outside the university’s gate to register their discontent over outstanding payments.

Some say they have not received any update on when they will receive their monies following the completion of a compensation review.

One employee said he has not received a pay increase in over two years.

Meanwhile, Dr. Stanberry explained that a compensation study was completed and shared with unions representing staff.

He said the unions’ responses, along with the review, were tabulated and shared with the Ministry of Finance.

He said the Finance Ministry is still reviewing the study and, once it’s completed, the university will engage the unions with the aim of finalizing the process.
