Jamaica Bankers Association says appointment of Dr. Brian Langrin as BOJ Governor comes at pivotal time

The Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA) has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Brian Langrin as Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ).
He takes up office tomorrow, August 19.
The JBA said the banking sector stands ready to continue its partnership with the central bank and to engage constructively on priorities that are central to stable economic growth and the resilience of Jamaica’s financial system.
President of the JBA, Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham, stated that Dr. Langrin’s leadership comes at a pivotal time, and the JBA looks forward to collaborating on initiatives that strengthen monetary stability, foster innovation and support sustainable development across the economy.
The JBA also extended sincere appreciation to Governor Richard Byles for his distinguished service.
According to the Association, during his tenure, Governor Byles provided steady leadership, strengthened regulatory frameworks and upheld the integrity and stability of the financial sector.
It added that his contributions have left a lasting impact on Jamaica’s economic landscape and the institutions that safeguard it.
