Gov’t spends over $10.5B on ROOFS programme – IRIE FM

The Government has spent over 10.5 billion dollars on the restoration of Owner or Occupant Family Shelters (ROOFS) programme.

State Minister for Social Security Donovan Williams gave the update, while addressing a Jamaica Labour Party Area Council One ‘Truth Matters’ public meeting last evening.

Mr. Williams noted that the redemption rate for beneficiaries who collected their grants is 94 per cent.

He acknowledged that the programme has some challenges which are being resolved.

He stressed that the Government has to balance efficiency with accountability, and that this has contributed to some delays in the disbursement of funds.
