NHF increases subsidies for four vital diagnostic and screening services by up to 88.5% effective September 24

The National Health Fund has increased subsidies for four vital diagnostic and screening services by up to 88.5% effective September 24.

The adjustment represents an additional annual investment of approximately $7.76 million and applies to pap smears, mammograms, electrocardiograms and HbA1c testing.

The services play a key role in the detection and management of cervical and breast cancers, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The NHF says the increased subsidies are intended to encourage early detection and help bridge financial gaps in primary healthcare, making routine screening more accessible before health conditions worsen.

Eligibility requirements and the frequency with which beneficiaries can access the four benefits remain unchanged.

Women aged 21 and over can access a pap smear once every three years, while men and women aged 40 and over can access an annual mammogram.

High-risk women between 30 and 40 can also access the mammogram benefit once a year with a doctor’s referral.

NHFCard beneficiaries can access an electrocardiogram once annually.
