The Government has reemphasised that the third country nationals (TCNs), who arrived in Jamaica yesterday, were received in accordance with the agreed framework with the United States.

In a statement, the Ministries of National Security and Foreign Affairs said the group of 22 adults arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

The Government said, consistent with the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the TCNs were landed as visitors, having been confirmed as having no criminal antecedents.

The group comprised 15 men and seven women.

They are of seven different nationalities, predominantly from Latin American countries.

No Caribbean Community national is among the group.

Following their arrival and completion of the relevant immigration procedures, the individuals were transported to accommodation designated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

In accordance with the established arrangements, the IOM has now assumed responsibility for their care and will facilitate their return to their respective countries.

The Government reaffirmed that the temporary reception of these individuals is being undertaken as per the agreement, including the relevant immigration and security requirements and with due regard for the dignity and well-being of the persons concerned.
