The Police Federation said the death of Constable Devoney Rose has compounded the grief and pain experienced by the constabulary force, having now lost 4 members within one week.

Constable Rose had been shot during a police operation in Sligoville, St. Catherine, yesterday.

He succumbed to his wounds today.

The Federation extended condolences to the familyy, friends and colleagues of Constable Rose, along with the management and staff of the specialized operations branch, during this difficult period.

This death comes just hours after that of Corporal Trevoy Shaw.

Corporal Shaw, who was assigned to the specialized operations branch, was also part of the Sligoville operation.

The Federation condemned these senseless killings in the strongest possible terms.

The killings are a painful reminder of the grave risks members face each day while serving and protecting the people of Jamaica.

The Federation said it is devastating that two colleagues have been taken in such brutal circumstances.

It said violence against police officers must never be regarded as an ordinary consequence of the profession.

Tragically, the families of Corporal Shaw and Constable Rose will now face the pain of their absence.

Meantime, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s high command has extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Constable Devoney Rose, following his death today.

The JCF’s chaplaincy services, medical services and welfare branches are providing support to affected relatives and colleagues.
