On a recent visit to Organica Whole Foods Store, Loop News checked in just in time for a live smoothie demo led by Kamila’s Kitchen principal Kamila McDonald.
After the demo, customers sampled the nutrient- and ‘good fat’-packed smoothies made by Kamila on location during the launch of Organica's Waterloo Road outlet.
Kamila is Organica’s first official brand ambassador, so, it was only right that she would select items from the store – including her Well Good yoghurt, spinach, maca and cacao powder, hemp hearts, and coconut milk – to make the smoothies.
After all, it was an opportunity for customers to engage with health and wellness experts before shopping from an array of whole food items.
Between the Superpower Spirulina Smoothie and the Almond Mocha Breakfast Smoothie, shoppers would agree that consuming gut health smoothies is not just a tasty ordeal, but, an entryway to wellness transformation.
During her stint, Kamila shared several tips for smoothie-making and maintaining a healthy diet. Five of those were:
- Fat is good for you. Not all fats are bad, and fats are an integral part of all diets. One such good fat is coconut milk.
- Adding ice to your smoothie helps to make it thicker, and more consistent.
- If you meal-prep your smoothie ingredients in ‘smoothie packs’, you can make a smoothie much faster, allowing for an easier transition when you’re on the go. Segment your ingredients and freeze them for the best results.
- Yoghurt is an excellent addition to smoothies that provides gut-healthy probiotics and adds a desirable creamy texture to smoothies.
- Not all plant-based protein sources are complete sources of protein, so it is important to research your dietary intake and each of its nutritional values.
