West Indies cricketers Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran have been named in ESPNcricinfo’s Twenty20 Team of the Year, following standout performances during a packed 2024 schedule that included the ICC T20 World Cup.
More than 1,600 men’s T20 matches were played globally in 2024. Pooran, the Trinidadian wicketkeeper-batsman, emerged as the leading run-scorer in the format, amassing 2,331 runs in 74 innings at an average of 40.89 and a strike rate of nearly 160. His tally included one century and 15 half-centuries.
Jamaican all-rounder Russell also had a remarkable year, scoring 1,075 runs at a strike rate of 185.3 while claiming 49 wickets at a strike rate of 26.2.
