Angry residents of Sandy Bay in Hanover took to the streets early on Wednesday morning and staged a fiery protest over Friday's fatal shooting of Adedra Vidal during a reported confrontation with the police.

The police have since cleared sections of the main road where blockages impeded vehicular traffic.

The police reported that on Friday, armed with a warrant, they went to a house in Mountpelier, Sandy Bay, where Vidal lived. The cops alleged that Vidal was shot after he pulled a gun and pointed it at them.

On Wednesday the protesting residents expressed their frustration over the delay by investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) to return to the area to retrieve camera footage.

A senior police officer said INDECOM has confirmed that arrangements have been made to return to the area between Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning to extract the footage.
