Black River Hospital receives hurricane relief supplies valued at $9M

The Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth, yesterday received a donation of hurricane relief supplies, valued at $9 million.

The donation was made by the Kingston-based Andrews Memorial Hospital.

Medical supplies, including gauze, sanitary and hygiene products and laptops were handed over during the ceremony.

During his address, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Andrews Memorial Donmayne Gyles, said the donation signals a move to strengthen engagement with Black River Hospital.

He said Andrews Memorial and other partners will continue to assist Black River Hospital.

And CEO of the Black River Hospital, Diana Brown-Miller expressed gratitude for the supplies.

Black River Hospital is one of several health facilities in western Jamaica which suffered significant damage during the passage of category 5 hurricane Melissa in October last year.
