Members of Jamaica’s business process outsourcing (BPO) sector are mourning the passing of Patrick Casserly, a trailblazing entrepreneur who played a pivotal role in shaping the industry.

Casserly, the former CEO of eServices Group International, passed away yesterday at the age of 58.

Gloria Henry, Vice President of BPO and Logistics at the Port Authority of Jamaica, lauded Casserly for his transformative contributions to the sector.

"Patrick Casserly was an entrepreneur who has left an indelible mark on the BPO sector through his company eServices," Henry said.

Casserly founded E-Services Limited in 2000, a company that soon rose to prominence as the largest outsourcing centre in the region. The firm was later sold to Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), cementing its place in the industry.

Henry highlighted Casserly's innovative vision and unwavering commitment to the sector, which led to the establishment of Jamaica's largest locally owned outsourcing company at the time.

"He not only created thousands of jobs, but he empowered and developed many leaders who later went on to lead large multinational companies," Henry noted.

Casserly was a prominent figure in the Montego Bay Free Zone community, where his legacy is deeply felt.

"We are deeply saddened by his passing, but his contributions are deeply etched into the annals of Free Zone and BPO Jamaica history. We express condolences to his family and friends," Henry added.
