Jahazeil Myrie, recording artiste and the third eldest son of dancehall legend Buju Banton, was baptized last Sunday at the Meadowbrook Church of Christ.
Myrie explained the decision to give his life to the Lord.
“Mi did go through some personal stuff; spiritual warfare is real. I’ve been battling with it for close to five years, so I had to make a change,” Myrie told Loop News in an exclusive interview on Friday.
Myrie, who is known for conscious and positive lyrics, said his music will not be affected by his newfound Christianity.
“This won’t affect my music in any way. I am already doing positive music. I will still do music because that’s been my calling, Myrie disclosed.
Myrie’s latest single To My Rescue is the first release off his forthcoming 10-track album. The song, which features veteran dancehall deejay Spragga Benz, was produced by Jah Jah Productions/Vayda Entertainment.
“To My Rescue” came about when I was going through my situation, it's based on what I was going through. At the time I was calling out for help,” he said.
