The Denham Town police in West Kingston had an active day in search of illegal guns and ammunition on Saturday.
In one incident, a Taurus pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds of ammunition and a substance resembling cocaine were seized during an operation at Upper First Street, Trench Town, Kingston 12.
Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 9:15 am, law enforcers, acting on information, conducted a targeted raid at a premise, where a bedroom was searched in the occupant's presence.
During the search of a bedroom, a bag containing the weapon and a white hard substance resembling cocaine was found.
A man was arrested in connection to the find, but his identity is being withheld, pending further investigations by the police.
Later in the day, investigators from Denham Town station seized a firearm during an operation at the intersection of West Road and Third Street.
Reports from the station are that between 4:20 pm and 7pm, law enforcers, acting on information, conducted a targeted raid at the location, during which a Mac 11 9mm submachine gun was found in a bag.
No arrest was made in connection with the find.
