The Court Administration Division (CAD) is reporting that today’s traffic ticket day in St. Catherine got off to a smooth start with hundreds of motorists processed.

About 10,000 persons were scheduled to attend today’s special session.

The event, aimed at addressing outstanding traffic tickets, saw a heavy police presence to maintain order.

Motorists who appeared in court pleaded guilty or not guilty to various traffic charges.

Director of client services, communications and information Kadiesh Jarrett Fletcher noted that 6 rooms at the St. Catherine parish court were designated for handling traffic matters today.

She also noted that persons who did not register were given dates to return.

The activity is ongoing, as court is expected to close by 9 o’clock this evening.

The court’s traffic public days are designed to clear a backlog of traffic cases and today’s event was part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management and road safety in Jamaica.
