The Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, and the Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade officially opened the St James Child and Adolescent Wellness Centre, funded by the European Union (EU) and other private sector interests, in Montego Bay this morning.
The establishment of the St James Child and Adolescent Wellness Centre represents a significant milestone in advancing mental health services for children and adolescents in the western end of the island. This initiative highlights the Ministry of Health and Wellness’s unwavering commitment to addressing the mental health needs of the nation’s youth and fostering a supportive environment for their overall well-being.

From early intervention and counselling to therapeutic and rehabilitative care, the facility is designed to promote mental resilience and equip young individuals with the tools needed to thrive in today’s complex world. Additionally, the centre will serve as a hub for mental health education and community outreach, encouraging greater awareness and understanding of mental health issues among families and stakeholders.
