Clean-up initiative
The Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), in collaboration with the National Water Commission (NWC), National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), recently led a major cleanup operation in downtown Kingston.
The teams cleared over 100 truckloads of garbage from Heywood Street and Princess Street, addressing longstanding waste issues in the area.
In addition to garbage removal, the clean-up involved unclogging drains and resolving several other environmental issues that have impacted several vendors who came out to observe the initiative.
The vendors also expressed gratitude for the efforts, saying the cleanup has improved the area’s appearance and health conditions.
“This is a welcomed change,” said one vendor.
“We appreciate the work they have done to make our working environment better.”
