The MultiCare Youth Foundation (MYF) is urging companies to provide internship opportunities for young people participating in its empowerment programmes.

The programmes being offered through the EU BRIDGE Project aim to fill the gap between education and employment, equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in the workforce.

Encompassing a holistic approach to youth development, participants have benefited from essential life skills training, vocational skills enhancement, cognitive behavioural therapy, mentorship, and innovative art therapy initiatives.

Director of Projects and Strategic Management, MYF, Mitzian Turner, said that while “participants have received training in essential workplace skills, leadership, and problem-solving, there is a need for greater connection between businesses and these enthusiastic and talented youth, who are valuable assets to any workplace”.

It is for this reason that the call is being made for more businesses across industries to support this initiative by offering internship placements that can range from short-term projects to extended learning opportunities.

“Internships provide a crucial stepping stone for young people seeking to enter the job market, and by opening their doors to these ambitious and driven individuals, businesses can cultivate future leaders while benefiting from fresh perspectives and new talent,” Mitzian Turner pointed out.

“These opportunities will provide hands-on experience, and as such, for those organisations who may have a need and can facilitate, we are imploring them to partner with the MultiCare Youth Foundation in providing this much-needed valuable work experience to our youth beneficiaries,” she added.

Employers interested in reaching out to these young individuals with the life-changing opportunities they seek can contact the MultiCare Youth Foundation at 876-922-6670 or through their website at https://myfjamaica.org/.

By partnering with the MYF, organisations can contribute to the development of  Jamaica’s youth through this investment in the nation's future workforce.
