The Westmoreland police are working to make a breakthrough into the murder of medical doctor Aung Naing, this after the discovery of his body at his home in Llandilo Phase 1 Housing Scheme in the parish on the weekend.
The 57-year-old, who was a national of Myanmar (formerly Burma), has reportedly been living and working in the island since 1997.
Reports are that on Sunday, residents noticed a foul odour at Naing’s home and summoned the police.
On their arrival, Naing was found in the house on his back with what appeared to be stab wounds to the left side of his chest and neck.
The doctor was reportedly last seen alive on December 8.
In an update on the case, head of the Westmoreland police, Superintendent Othneil Dobson, told reporters that there were no signs of forced entry to the doctor's house.
Additionally, the parish top cop said it appeared that nothing had been removed from the premises.
"The investigations remain in its early stage and detectives are working tirelessly to piece together the circumstances of this tragic incident," Dobson said.
He appealed to persons with information that may assist the police in their probe, to contact the nearest police station, or Crime Stop at 311.
