Court Administration Division says steps are being taken to address challenges faced by staff at the Savanna-la-Mar Parish Court
The Court Administration Division CAD says active steps are being taken to address the challenges being faced by staff at the Savanna-la-Mar Parish Court in Westmoreland.
This follows a sick out by staff members earlier today, over what they say are poor working conditions across the parish.
The staff members are demanding that the CAD and the Justice Ministry address their concerns with urgency.
The industrial action came in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, which adversely affected the Court’s infrastructure and overall working conditions.
Director of Client Services, Communications and Information, Kadiesh Jarrett-Fletcher notes that the CAD is working assiduously to minimise disruptions.
Meantime, the CAD says its undertaking work at the Parish Court to implement container-based facilities pending a decision from the Ministry of Justice on a permanent home for the Parish Court.
It says discussions are ongoing in this regard, with the most recent discussion being on April 15, 2026.
