A 48-hour curfew has been imposed in sections of St. Elizabeth.

The areas affected are: New Town, Brompton, Speculation, Crawford, Hodges Land, Oxford, Spring Park, Cambridge, Fyffes Pen, Vineyard, Rice Piece, Cuffies Pen, Redding, Slipe and Thornton communities.

The curfew began at 6:00 P.M. yesterday and will remain in effect until 6:00 P.M. tomorrow.

The curfew in New Town follows Saturday’s murder which claimed the life of 47-year-old Basil Bruce, a labourer of Zena Way in New Town.

In New Town the boundaries include West Street, Lovers Lane, Central Road and Exchange Drive.

Meanwhile the boundaries in Rice Piece and Cuffies Pen include the Lacovia Main Road, Cuffies Back Road, Barton Wharf Road and Cuffies Pen Road.

All persons within the boundaries of the curfew are required to remain within their premises, unless authorized by the ground commander.
