Detectives from the St Catherine North Police Division have laid a murder charge against 42-year-old Arion Beckford, otherwise called ‘Yah Yah’, a labourer of Rhymesbury district in Clarendon, arising from an incident in St Catherine on December 23, 2020.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that about 8:20 am on that date, Beckford and another man had an altercation, during which Beckford allegedly used a knife to stab the man.

The police were alerted and on their arrival, the man was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The deceased was later identified as Jevaughn Powell, otherwise called ‘Dummy’, of Thompson Pen, Spanish Town in St Catherine.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, Beckford was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston when he arrived on a deportation flight. He was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being arranged.
