Detective inspector to answer to cocaine related charges in court on Wednesday

A detective inspector is to answer to drug charges in court on Wednesday after cocaine weighing over 5.8 kilograms was reportedly found in his possession on Thursday, January 8.

He is 51-year-old Martin Walker of the constabulary’s Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime (CTOC) branch.

Reports are at about 7:10 p.m., personnel from the firearms and narcotics investigation division intercepted Walker at a business establishment in Kingston. 

Walker’s vehicle was searched and police say a plastic bag containing the cocaine was found.

It has an estimated street value of $J3.5 million.

Walker was interviewed in the presence of his attorney on Saturday, January 10 and was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, trafficking cocaine and conspiracy.

He will appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on January 14.
