Digicel kicked off the New Year in grand style by delivering life-changing surprises to customers through the launch of the ‘25 Fi 25’ promotion.
This initiative gives 25 customers the chance to win $1 million each, empowering them to achieve their 2025 goals. Already, three winners—Monique Campbell-Simpson, Carlton Marchall, and Mervalyn Laird—have been selected as the first millionaires, each with a unique story of ambition and gratitude.
For Campbell -Simpson, 31, the news of her win was nothing short of a miracle. The mother of two young children and a team lead at Juici Patties in May Pen, Clarendon, admits she was shocked when she got the call. “At first, I was surprised and a bit doubtful. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” she shared. Monique’s win came from a simple yet thoughtful act—she had gifted her husband a 7-day Digicel plan, a routine she never imagined would change her family’s life.
Campbell -Simpson, who lives in Pleasant Valley in May Pen, Clarendon with her husband, five-year-old daughter, and three-year-old son, has big plans for her winnings. “I want to expand our one-bedroom house so my family, especially my children, can be more comfortable. That’s my top priority. I also want to fulfil my dream of buying a car. I was in the process of saving for a down payment, and this money will make it possible,” she said. Reflecting on her upbringing as the eldest child of a hardworking domestic worker, Campbell -Simpson, “Life wasn’t easy, but my mother made the best for us.” Grateful for this moment, she concluded, “God has used Digicel to help me accomplish things I never thought possible this year.”
For Carlton Marchall, a music producer, part-time DJ, and father of two, the call from Digicel felt like divine intervention. Originally from St Catherine and raised in the church by his late mother, Carlton was sceptical when he first heard the news. “I was like, ‘Wa this kinda luck inna the new year?’” Carlton plans to use his winnings to support his 20-year-old son’s college education abroad and reinvest in his ginger farm in Maroon Town, which he paused due to a lack of resources. “This is a blessing from God,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mervalyn Laird, an elderly farmer from St Elizabeth, sees her win as a blessing after a challenging year. A mother of four, grandmother to eleven, and great-grandmother to four, Mervalyn faced immense hardship when Hurricane Beryl devastated her farm in July 2024. “When I went to the farm, everything was on the ground. The only thing spared was a coconut tree,” she recalled. Despite her struggles, Mervalyn never stopped topping up with her weekly Digicel 7-day plans, and it paid off in the most unexpected way.
“When I got the call, I was in the bushes with a friend, and I couldn’t believe it. This is my first time winning anything from Digicel,” she said. Mervalyn plans to render the exterior of her home, a task she had put off for years, and purchase fertiliser to help her crops flourish. “I’m so thankful to Digicel. I will always be a loyal customer,” she added.
