The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information has deployed trauma and grief counselling teams to support students, staff and families after a devastating motor vehicle accident in Clarendon claimed the lives of two students from Lennon High School.

The accident, which occurred on the Bustamante Highway, has left the school community in mourning.

“Our hearts and prayers are with their families, friends, and the entire Lennon High School community during this time of unimaginable grief,” the ministry stated.

Several other students were injured in the accident, with one reportedly in critical condition.

The ministry expressed its hope for a full recovery, stating, “We are fervently praying for their full recovery and will continue to provide support to the families as they navigate this challenging period.”

In light of the tragedy, the ministry has strongly urged parents and guardians to ensure their children use reputable and safe transportation services. It also called on transportation providers to strictly adhere to safety standards and regulations to prevent similar incidents.

“It is imperative that transportation providers adhere to all safety standards and regulations to prevent such devastating occurrences,” the ministry emphasised.

The ministry also appealed to the public to refrain from sharing sensitive images and videos of the accident out of respect for the victims and their families.
