Efficiency Minister: Process to open bank account or register company to do business in Jamaica should not take more than 24 hours
“The process to open a bank account or to register a company to do business in Jamaica should not take more than 24 hours.”
That is according to Minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for efficiency, innovation and digital transformation, Ambassador Audrey Marks.
She was speaking at this morning’s post-Cabinet press briefing, where she announced the full implementation of the Electronic Transaction Act and e-Transactions Policy.
She said the next phase is to ease the process to do business in Jamaica and urged investors to set up their businesses while the other transactions are completed over time.
She said by embracing electronic signatures and digital progress, the island is not only simplifying processes but also unlocking opportunities for economic growth.
