Energy Minister Daryl Vaz notes concerns about increase in electricity bills

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz has noted concerns from Jamaica Public Service customers about their bills, in the wake of disruptions due to Hurricane Melissa.
Speaking at a press briefing today Mr Vaz pointed out that the Office of Utilities Regulations is monitoring the issue.
He noted that JPS had warned of the 7 percent increase, due to fuel costs.
The Energy Minister pointed out that the regulator has asked JPS to stagger the application of the increase.
Mr Vaz emphasized that a new licence has to be on different terms that benefit customers.
