Detectives from the Westmoreland Police Division have laid charges of murder and using a firearm to commit a felony against 38-year-old Shawn Williams, otherwise called ‘Chang’, a farmer of Grange Hill in the parish, following an incident in the community on Friday, March 14.
The charges stem from the shooting death of 54-year-old Frank Dellop, otherwise called ‘Rasta’, a farmer of a Grange Hill address. Dellop was reportedly standing on the Grange Hill main road at about 7:45 pm when gunshots were heard.
The police responded and found him lying along the roadway with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.
Williams was implicated during the subsequent investigation, and was arrested. He was charged following a question-and-answer session with investigators in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being arranged.
