Fayval Williams was on Wednesday named the new minister of finance by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Fayval Williams has been appointed as Jamaica's new Minister of Finance and Public Service, succeeding Dr Nigel Clarke.

Clarke, who resigned from his ministerial role, departed Jamaica today to assume his new position as Deputy Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund.

Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon will take on the role of Minister of Education, replacing Williams.

Meanwhile, Matthew Samuda will reassume his post as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

The announcements were made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness during this morning's post-cabinet press briefing.

More to come.
