The St Mary police are trying to establish a motive for the killing of a teacher whose body was found with her throat slashed inside her house on Post Road near Pear Tree Grove in the parish on Saturday.

The deceased is 59-year-old Angella Hamilton, a teacher at Pear Tree Grove Primary and Infant School.

The community is located on the border of St Mary and St Catherine.

Reports are that Hamilton was last seen leaving school on Friday afternoon.

Attempts were made to contact the educator who lived alone, but her phone number went unanswered.

Further reports are that shortly after 3pm on Saturday, one of Hamilton's friends went to her house, where the door to the living room was found open.

On entering the house, the friend reportedly found Hamilton's body lying lifeless on the floor.

The police were alerted and on their arrival, she was seen with several injuries, including a stab wound to her chest. Her throat was also slashed.

Law enforcers are appealing to anyone with information on the development to contact the nearest police station.
