The Jamaica Fire Brigade is urging citizens to take due care when lighting fires while reminding citizens that under the law, fires should not be lit after 6 P.M.

The reminder was issued by Acting Superintendent for St. Elizabeth Donovan Clarke.

This amid reports of bush fires across the country, resulting in millions of dollars in loss, especially for farm lands.

Acting Superintendent Clarke said fire fighters, along with the police will have to ramp up enforcement activities.

The Acting Superintendent pointed out that dry, windy conditions fuel fires and cause them to get out of control.
