The Meteorological Service has said the risk of flash flooding has significantly decreased for Jamaica, prompting the discontinuation of the flash flood watch and flash flood warning for some parishes.
In a release late Thursday, the Met Service said effective immediately, the flash flood warning for south-eastern and south-central parishes has been lifted.
The flash flood watch for south-western and north-eastern parishes was similarly discontinued.
The Met Service said rainfall data indicated that moderate to heavy showers affected sections of south-central and eastern parishes up to mid-morning on Thursday.
Thereafter, partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers prevailed across most parishes.
"The analysis of satellite imagery showed that most of the showers and thunderstorms associated with the area of low pressure across the south-western Caribbean remained offshore the south coast of Jamaica today," the Met Service reported.
It said the forecast is for the system to slowly drift northwestward and away from Jamaica on Thursday night.
"This should result in occasional cloudy skies tonight, with isolated thunderstorms across southern coastal areas, and becoming partly cloudy by tomorrow (Friday) morning," the Met Service stated.
