Former workers of Decameron Ramada hotel want monies owed to them; BITU calls on FSC to provide assistance
Vice President of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), Rudolph Thomas has called on the Financial Services Commission, (FSC) to provide urgent assistance to former workers of the Decameron Ramada All-inclusive resort, in St. Ann, in relation to the payment of monies owed to them.
The workers were let go during a redundancy exercise at the hotel, last July.
Thomas said the former workers have become frustrated with being unable to get money from the pension scheme they had contributed to while employed at the hotel.
He said due to Hurricane Melissa last October, and its impact on the tourism sector, he understands the plight of the former workers.
While acknowledging that the process normally takes some time, he urged the FSC, which is overseeing the process, to assist the former workers.
Meanwhile, Union Delegate, Chad Hylton lamented, that the former workers are being negatively affected, by the hotel management’s lack of action.
