Two separate mobile applications aimed at addressing gender based violence (GBV) and facilitating swift life verification for pensioners will be launched this year.
Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen made the disclosure today during the throne speech.
He said the GBV mobile app will among other things provide discreet access to emergency help for victims.
He said the ‘Am Alive’ app will be launched for pensioners.
Sir Patrick added that the government will introduce a modern communication apparatus to ensure Jamaicans have access to accurate and unbiased public information.
The 2026/27 throne speech was delivered under the theme: ‘Building Forward: Enhancing Resilience, Expanding Opportunity.
