Global increase in living costs, though challenging, should encourage persons to seek additional earning opportunities – Seiveright
State Minister for Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright, says the global increase in living costs, though challenging, should encourage persons to seek additional earning opportunities.
Mr. Seiveright made the comment at the Pelican Pitch Series: Entrepreneurship Forum at the University of the West Indies, Mona, on Thursday.
He challenged student entrepreneurs to rethink traditional career paths and expand their networks beyond familiar circles to compete in global markets.
He explained that the traditional 9-to-5 employment is no longer sufficient.
He also highlighted the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence across professions, noting that people should use it as a pathway to find non-traditional employment.
He added that major employers are reducing rigid degree requirements in favour of skills, emotional intelligence, efficiency and a demonstrated willingness to learn as organisations adapt to faster technology-driven workflows.
